Family painting of a father, mother and son
Portrait commissioned by a Dutch couple. Initially only the father and the son were intended to be portrayed but it ended up with all three. The challenge was I didn't have a photograph with all of them together so I ended up with making a composition of 2 different images each with different light fall. So I had to totally adjust the light fall on the mother which cost me a lot of trial and error and time. The reason I didn't have a picture of all of them together that was usable was that it was a birthday present for the father.Emily Didonato
Fashion models have always inspired me. I want the portraits I create to be intense and communicative and I hope the viewer is touched by it. Colors are important and I always try to push the boundaries and play with them in such away that color palette is bold but in harmony. When I look on the internet for images of a pretty girl I encounter images of Emily Didonato. She is amazing and so natural. I downloaded several images of her without knowing it was her. In this painting she has wet hair and I think the original image is from some kind of commercial. I have painted Emily in a more spontaneous style and it took me while to let myself go at this.- Home
